Care for your coated pan from cooking to putting it away

The hob, sink and cupboard all affect a pan’s surface. A few well-placed habits make care easier.

What should a coated-pan care routine include?

Use moderate heat and smooth-edged utensils suitable for the coating, then let the pan cool before washing. Loosen dried food with washing-up water and wipe it away with a soft sponge. Put a clean separator between stacked pans so their bases do not rub against the cooking surface underneath.

Put the turner out with the ingredients

Have ingredients and a suitable wooden or silicone turner ready so you are not searching while an empty pan gets hotter. Start with moderate heat and adjust to the food’s browning. Maximum heat is not a universal preheating rule. On gas, keep the flame beneath the base.

After serving, keep it away from the cold tap

  1. Put the pan somewhere safe and let it cool. Do not run cold water into a hot pan.
  2. Loosen food with lukewarm washing-up water, then clean with a soft sponge.
  3. Do not scrape stubborn patches with a knife or metal scourer. Repeat gentle soaking instead.
  4. Rinse, dry and then store. Use a dishwasher only according to the individual model’s markings.

Think about bases and lids when storing

When pans are stacked, the upper base rests against the coating below. Separate them with a clean, dry pan protector or soft tea towel. Keep lid rims and loose utensils from rubbing the cooking surface too. Slice food on a chopping board rather than inside the pan.

Choose the shape for the food

The 24 and 28 cm pans give different space for browning. The deep 24 cm version with lid also suits saucy dishes; all three have TitanPro coating.
