When should you choose a steamer or an iron?
A handheld steamer can suit small creases in a hanging garment. For a defined collar, cuff or trouser crease, an iron and a supported surface provide the right way to work. Read the care label, then think about the clothes you usually wear. Choose a tool for the task you genuinely do often.
Prepare the garment before switching on
- Separate tomorrow’s outfit from the clothes that can wait. A morning touch-up need not turn into a whole pile of laundry.
- For steaming, hang the garment securely with room for the fabric to fall freely. For ironing, prepare the board and lay out the section.
- Set the appliance according to the care label. Follow individual creases when steaming; work separately on collars and cuffs when ironing.
- Let the fabric dry and cool before wearing it. Then the prepared outfit only needs to come off the hanger.
For home use or beside a suitcase?
