Why you will like it

Some evenings, a few simple steps are all you want: cut the ingredients, arrange them in the basket and set the cooking controls. The 6 litre air fryer can prepare vegetables, potatoes and pieces of meat. Leave space between them for air to circulate; the shake reminder helps you remember to turn or move the pieces.

The Fashion by Berlinger Haus air fryer offers nine preset programmes, with temperature adjustable from 40 to 200 °C and a timer up to 60 minutes. Change either on the LED touch display to suit your recipe. The basket has a non-stick coating, and removing it stops the appliance automatically. Six litres describes the basket volume; the arrangement of the food also determines the batch size.

Six o'clock, you are hungry, and the oven is cold

This is the moment an air fryer earns its place. Cut the potatoes or the chicken, turn them in a spoonful of oil, slide the drawer in and pick a programme. There is no long preheat to wait through, no baking tray to soak, and the kitchen does not heat up as if you were roasting for a crowd. Twenty minutes later dinner is hot, and the chopping board is already washed.

You pull the drawer out by its handle, even mid-cook.

What six litres actually holds

The basket holds 6 litres. That covers most of the side dish for three or four people in one go, but the number alone says little: the arrangement of the food decides the batch. Leave space between the pieces and the hot air can travel around them, so every side browns. Pack the drawer full and the bottom layer steams instead.

This is why the removable perforated crisper plate matters. It lifts the food off the floor of the drawer so air moves underneath, and the fat that drips collects below rather than under the coating.

Why it feels premium in the hand

The same design language runs through the Fashion by Berlinger Haus kitchen line: rounded body, matte surface, metallic details and nothing written across the front. On the air fryer that means a dark glass panel where the figures light up only while it works, and a thick, easy-to-grip handle on the drawer rather than a thin lip. The inside is metal, and the outer surface takes a wipe.

It stands 36 cm high, 30.7 cm deep and 28 cm wide, with a 90 cm cord. Measure the space under a wall unit, because air has to move above the lid as well.

Nine programmes, and your own setting beside them

The display offers nine preset programmes, each one handing you a temperature and a time so you do not have to guess. The moment you want something else, you override it: temperature from 40 to 200 °C, timer up to 60 minutes. 40 °C is the lower limit: that is where you start dialling the temperature up.

Fast heating, less waiting

The appliance starts with a fast heating function, so it reaches the set temperature quickly. In practice the drawer is warm by the time the ingredients are chopped. It draws 1350 to 1650 watts on a 220–240 volt supply.

The reminder that speaks up halfway

On the supported programmes the appliance signals halfway through with a sound and on the display that it is time to shake the basket. This is the step everyone forgets, and then wonders why the lower layer stayed pale. Pull the drawer out while it runs and the appliance stops on its own; there is no button to find and no empty heating.

Less oil, the same crunch

Hot air does the cooking, so the food browns with far less oil: in your kitchen that usually means a spoonful for a whole batch of potatoes. The basket is non-stick, so breadcrumbs and melted cheese let go, and the dishwasher-safe parts can go in the machine.

The kitchen table stays usable while it works

Noise is the biggest risk with a fan appliance: if it is loud, the kitchen table is unusable while it works. It runs between 27 and 53 decibels.

Materials, safety and disposal

Hot-air circulation
A way of cooking in which a fan keeps driving heated air around the food. Moving air dries the surface faster than still air, which is why the edges crisp with very little fat.

The appliance is built from heat-resistant materials, its inner chamber is metal, its feet are non-slip, and it carries overheat protection. Hold the drawer by its handle only: the other surfaces are hot while it runs.

An ordinary weekday, as it really goes

The commonest scene is the evening one: vegetables and chicken pieces go into the drawer together, you shake them halfway through, and you lay the table while they finish. The drawer pulls out mid-cook, so you can look, stir and slide it back. That is the routine that keeps the appliance on the worktop instead of back on top of the cupboard.

The appliance comes in more than one finish. The shape and the control panel are the same on each; what changes is the colour of the body and the tone of the metallic details.

Cleaning and storage

  • Let it cool after cooking, then take out the drawer and the crisper plate.
  • Dishwasher-safe parts can go in the machine; by hand, a soft sponge and washing-up liquid are enough, with no scouring pad.
  • Wipe the outside with a damp cloth; never immerse the body, the cord or the plug.
  • Check the air openings from time to time so grease does not build up on them.
  • Dry the drawer before storing, and put it away closed so the coating touches nothing.

What it covers, and what it does not

Who should choose this air fryer?

A household of two to four where hot food has to appear quickly on weekdays and nobody wants to heat a full oven for one tray of vegetables. With a six litre basket, nine programmes and a 60 minute timer it handles most everyday cooking. A Sunday roast for a larger table still belongs in the oven.

Frequently asked questions

Does it really work without oil?

A spoonful of oil gives a better result with most dishes, because it helps the browning stay even. The hot air does the cooking, so that much is enough where a pan would take far more. The basket is non-stick, so breading does not cling even without oil.

Can the drawer go in the dishwasher?

It comes with dishwasher-safe parts. When washing by hand, use a soft sponge so the non-stick coating stays intact.

How much worktop space does it need?

The appliance is 36 cm high, 30.7 cm deep and 28 cm wide, and it needs a further 10 cm of clear space on every side. The cord is 90 cm, so take the socket into account too.

What happens if I open the drawer while it is cooking?

The appliance stops automatically. You can look at the food and stir it, then continue cooking once the drawer is back in.

Can it handle a larger cut of meat?

The 40–200 °C range and the 60 minute timer allow it, but the drawer decides the portion: the meat has to sit in a single layer so the air can travel around it.
