What matters when taking a hairdryer on a trip?

Start with how you want to wear your hair while away. Pack the concentrator for a smooth blow-dry or the diffuser for natural waves. Try the complete setup in your bag, because attachments take space too. Familiar settings and movements can be more useful than carrying several extra accessories you rarely use.

Start with the hairstyle

  1. Choose a style you can repeat. For turning the ends under, start with the concentrator and your usual brush. For your natural waves, pack the diffuser.
  2. Try the whole routine at home. Gently blot away water with a towel, choose comfortable heat and airflow, and remember the settings you used.
  3. Pack the appliance only once fully cool. Arrange the cable loosely beside it and check that the bag closes without pressing against the attachments.
  4. For an overseas trip, check the local electricity supply and the appliance label. A plug adapter alone does not change the voltage required by a dryer marked 220-240 V.
