Seven settings, because nobody likes it the same

Toast is the breakfast where one setting decides whether it worked. Some people want the pale slice with a soft middle under the butter, others would wait until the edge cracks. A two-setting toaster only ever delivers one of those. This appliance has seven browning levels, and the dial really does hold the one that is right for you.

Automatic centering

The other classic fault of toast is that one side comes out darker than the other. That happens when the slice sits closer to one of the elements inside the slot. This appliance has automatic centering: the inner frame of the slot closes onto the bread and holds it in the middle, whether the slice is thin or thick.

Defrost

A slice from the freezer is improved by thawing first rather than by toasting longer. The defrost function joins those two steps, so you do not have to wait for the bread to thaw before you start.

Reheat

When finished toast has gone cold because the phone rang, reheat brings the warmth back with no further browning.

Cancel

The cancel button ends the toasting mid-cycle. This is the button you reach for when the smell tells you sooner than the dial that it has had enough.

Fast heat-up sits among the functions too, alongside defrost, reheat and cancel. The appliance runs at 850 watts from 220–240 volts, 50/60 hertz.

The kind of machine you leave out on the counter

The top panel around the slots is 18/10 stainless steel, and the body has a matt finish. An ordinary morning

You put in two slices, press the lever down, and while the water boils you spread the butter. The lever comes up, the slice is out, and there is no moment where the second round needs the dial recalibrated, because the same position gives the same result.

At the weekend, with four of you at the table, the crumb tray matters most. After breakfast you pull it out in one movement, empty it into the bin and push it back. That is the whole clean-up.
