Two kinds of hair, two heads

Some people comb their hair smooth every morning; others want to keep their waves. The two do not ask for the same air. Both heads come with this dryer: the nozzle gathers the airflow into a narrow band, the diffuser spreads it over a wide surface. Neither is an extra to buy, both are in the box.

1900-2300 watts, with a DC motor

On a hair dryer, drying time matters most, because it decides how much heat your hair takes altogether. This one works between 1900 and 2300 watts with a DC motor, on 220-240 V at 50-60 Hz. Thanks to the fast heating function it reaches working temperature soon after you switch it on, so your morning does not start with waiting.

The two rocker switches

Two rocker switches sit one under the other on the handle: one sets the speed, the other the heat. There are two speeds and three heat levels, each on its own switch, so you do not have to run through a single shared scale. Fine hair takes lower heat and more speed; thicker, denser hair the other way round. The switches give clear control in everyday use.

The cool air button: the finish

Styling is not done when the hair is dry, but when it stays that way once it has cooled. The separate cool air button sits next to the two rocker switches, and it is separate because you reach for it at the very end of drying, not while hunting through settings. Use it to close the styling.

The nozzle, for a smooth finish

The nozzle directs the air at the section you are guiding on the brush, not at the one next to it. It gathers the airflow into one band: while you draw the brush down the length, the neighbouring section does not blow apart, so you do not have to comb it back afterwards.

The diffuser, for waves

Waved and curly hair falls apart because concentrated air blows the curls open. The diffuser releases the same air over a wider area and more slowly, so the curl survives. The diffuser enhances curls; the usual movement is to lift the hair into the bowl and hold it there until it dries.

Ionising releases negatively charged particles into the outgoing air. On this dryer it runs throughout drying and has no switch of its own, so there is nothing to turn on.

A filter cover you can actually remove

Hair and dust settle on the rear grille over time. On this appliance the filter cover comes off, so you can wipe it out and put it back. The removable filter cover is what makes it this easy to keep clean.

One drying session, start to finish

You blot the water out with a towel, fit the nozzle, and take the roots down on medium heat at full speed. Once the hair is only damp you drop the speed and work section by section with a brush. Cool air over every section at the end, and after that you do not touch it again.

With waved hair the order changes: the diffuser goes on straight away, at a lower setting, and you do not comb through the curls while they dry. The same appliance, only the head and the setting change.

Keeping the rear grille clear

• Switch off, unplug and let it cool before cleaning.
• Take the filter cover off regularly and wipe out the hair and dust behind it.
• Wipe the body and the heads with a barely damp cloth; never immerse them in water.
• Only take the heads off once the appliance has cooled, because they are hot after use.
• Do not wind the cord tightly around the appliance; it breaks first where it enters the handle.
• Store it indoors and dry, away from the bath and the basin.
