Washing your face in the evening usually fails on tiredness: either you rush it, or you scrub until your skin starts to sting. This brush takes both decisions out of your hands. Why this beats your palm

With your hands you rub the cleanser into your skin, and the force of that rubbing is set by your palm. The sonic vibrations cleanse thoroughly yet gently: they help lift dirt and makeup residue without you having to rub your face mechanically.

Two surfaces on one brush

The head is double-sided: two silicone surfaces with different textures, for different cleansing needs. You do not change an attachment; you turn the device over in your hand and carry on with the other surface.

Ten levels, because your skin is not the same every day

The ninety seconds you do not have to count

The device stops on its own after ninety seconds. That is not a limitation but a decision lifted off your shoulders: the automatic shut-off helps you keep to the recommended cleansing time and reduces the risk of over-cleansing.

It has a side effect you will not expect: a minute and a half is short enough that you will start it even when you are tired. A routine only survives if it does not need resolve.

Waterproof, but not for submerging

The device has a waterproof design: you can use it in the shower, in the bath and under running water. It must not be submerged in water, though.

The difference is that splashing and running water are not the same as standing water. Using it in the shower and rinsing it under the tap is fine; standing it in a glass of water on the basin is not.

Sonic vibration

A high-frequency, small-amplitude vibration that the device transmits to the brush surface. It supports the removal of dirt and makeup residue without the skin having to be rubbed mechanically.

The double-sided silicone brush surface serves gentle cleansing and exfoliation, and the housing gives a steady grip. Thanks to the built-in lithium battery there is no cable in your hand while you use it; you charge it through the device's charging port.

The device has no hot surfaces: neither the silicone brush nor the housing heats up in use. At the end of its life, though, the built-in lithium battery means it cannot go into household waste and must be handed in at a designated electrical waste collection point.

What the indicator light tells you

The device reports its battery state with indicator lights: it flashes red when flat and glows blue when fully charged. That is the whole feedback, and it is exactly enough to avoid a surprise in the evening.

It fits in a toiletry bag

The device measures 143 × 62 × 37 millimetres, barely 14.3 centimetres long, and comes with a travel bag. That is the size that still fits among the creams in your wash bag, so you do not have to get used to a different tool when travelling.

The brush fits in a packed suitcase. It runs without a cable, and after a charge you do not have to work out where the sockets are at your accommodation.

One evening at the basin

Makeup off, then you work the cleanser into a lather on your face. You put the brush to your skin, pick a level, and move in circles across your face. The device counts the minute and a half; you only watch the movement.

When it stops you rinse both your face and the brush surface. Put back beside its bag, it is to hand for the next evening without needing to be stored away.

• Switch the device off before you start cleaning it.
• Rinse the silicone surfaces after use and let them dry.
• Use lukewarm water: water hotter than 40 °C can damage the silicone.
• Keep corrosive cleaning agents away from the brush surface.
• Put it back in its travel bag dry, and keep it out of children's reach.
