Cordless vacuum with upholstery and crevice tools

Crumbs do not wait for a socket

Most cleaning is not deep cleaning. The muesli goes over, someone walks in with muddy shoes, a bag of flour splits. At that moment you do not want to hunt for an extension lead; you want to lift something off the wall and walk over. This vacuum is cordless and runs for up to 35 minutes on a charge, which is enough to go through a flat rather than just the strip under the worktop.

A BLDC motor and three speeds

At the centre of it sits a BLDC motor. You choose between low, middle and high. On hard floors and smooth laminate the lowest setting is enough and the battery lasts longer for it; on rugs, dog hair or sand worked into the edge of a carpet there is somewhere to turn up to.

A hundred and eight centimetres, and it stands up

Assembled it stands 108 cm tall and the floor head is 25 cm wide. The handheld unit on its own is 29 cm tall and 11.5 cm wide, so it fits in one hand once you take the tube off. It has a standing function: between two jobs you can set it down and it stays on its own feet instead of leaning against a wall or lying on the floor.

What is in the box

The package includes a HEPA filter, a crevice tool, a brush head, a mains adapter, a storage bracket and a cleaning brush. Alongside the HEPA filter there is a stainless steel filter too. The bracket is why the machine does not end up propped in a corner: it goes on the wall and lives there with its tools.

A brush for the sofa

The brush head is 12 cm wide. It is cut for the seat of an armchair, the arm of a sofa and a car seat: the bristles loosen dust worked into the fabric and the head fits between the cushions.

A crevice tool for the skirting

The long crevice tool is 29 cm. That is exactly enough to reach under a cabinet, behind a radiator, into the joint of wall and floor or between car seats without tilting the machine.

A display that tells you what is wrong

The handheld unit carries a round LED display. It shows the charge continuously and it flags faults too: a blockage, or a missing filter. That is the difference between guessing from a drop in suction and knowing that something is stuck in the tube, or that the filter never went back in after washing.

The battery comes out

The lithium-ion battery runs at 22.2 V and charges both through the machine and on its own. That buys you two things: you can take the battery out of a vacuum hanging on its bracket and charge it by a socket, and with a second battery you can double the time you spend cleaning. The battery has multi-stage safety protection and needs no particular maintenance.

Eight hundred millilitres, and one button

The dust tank is bagless, holds 800 ml and empties at the push of a button. You never buy a bag for it: empty the tank held low over the bin, and the dust stays down. The HEPA filter is washable and reusable.

Materials, safety and disposal

The machine is built from durable, easy-to-clean materials, and it needs no cleaning with water: a dry or slightly damp cloth is enough. Always use it with the original battery and charger.

Why the LED on the floor head earns its place

The floor head has LED lighting built into it. This is not decoration: under a bed, under a run of cabinets and under a kitchen worktop the dust does not show in the half-light, so you either go over the same patch twice or not at all. The light shows where a hair or a crumb is left, which means fewer laps of the same room.

A machine you do not have to hide

The vacuum stands on its own, so it does not disappear into the back of a cupboard when the cleaning is done; it stays where you use it. The black and rose gold body does not look out of place beside the furniture, and on the wall bracket it has a home with its tools. Nobody has to close a door on it when a guest arrives.

For the daily tidy-up, or for the big clean?

It is not the machine for a large, fully carpeted house cleaned once a week: there 35 minutes may fall short and a second battery is worth budgeting for. It is not for wet cleaning or outdoor use either, since it must not come into contact with water.

Maintenance

• Wash the HEPA filter and put it back only when it is completely dry.
• Wipe the outside with a dry or slightly damp cloth; it must not be cleaned with water.
• Use the supplied cleaning brush to pull hair out of the brush head's bristles.
• Always charge with the original adapter, and never connect a damaged cable.
• If you leave it unused for weeks, do not store the battery fully flat or somewhere warm.
