How should you choose your first facial cleansing device?
Start with the task. A cleansing brush is a tool for washing your face; a warming or cooling massager belongs to a different step. Gentle cleansing by hand can be enough on its own. Look for a device when you know how you want to use it and can make time to clean it.

Which one to pick?
A massager does not replace face washing, and a cleansing brush is not for every part of the face. Follow the individual device’s instructions for where it can be used.
Keep the first use simple
- Read the instructions, clean the contact surface and check the power supply.
- Try gentle movements only on permitted areas. Do not press harder to try to increase the effect.
- Avoid introducing several new skincare steps at the same time. It makes unwanted reactions easier to notice.
- Clean and dry the head as instructed after use. Do not seal it in a storage bag while wet.
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends gentle face washing without scrubbing. Stop using the device if irritation occurs and consult a dermatologist for persistent concerns. These tools do not treat skin diseases.
