Heat the room you are in

In autumn and spring the whole flat is rarely cold. A work corner at eight in the morning, a bedroom at ten at night, a guest room at Christmas: each is its own problem, and it is a waste to heat the entire floor area for any of them. This panel heater is built for that. You set when you want heat and at what temperature, and the panel takes it from there.

A 1400 W heater with a tempered glass front that you can stand on its feet or mount on the wall. It comes with a thermostat, a weekly programme, a timer and Wi-Fi, so it is something you plan once rather than switch on and off.

What it solves day to day

Portable heaters usually get two things wrong: they either blow until you roast, or you forget to switch them off. Here the thermostat holds a target between 5 and 35 °C, and the heater turns off when it reaches the temperature you set. Watching it is not your job.

Glass, not one more appliance

The front is flat tempered glass, frameless, in a single plane. That is why it does not read as a heater: on a wall it looks closer to a frameless sheet of glass, on its feet to a narrow console. The face measures 64.5 by 43 cm, the whole panel 645 by 66 by 430 mm at 5.5 kg, so it is thinner than a radiator and can be moved with two hands.

Fast heating, without the wait

The fast heating function earns its place when you come home and take your coat off in a cold room. Behind the glass, aluminium heating elements run in an X, so the heat does not start from one point but from the whole face of the panel. How long the room takes to warm through also depends on its size and its insulation.

A weekly programme you set once

The panel offers P1, P2 and P3 heating profiles, and P3 can be tailored. If you work in the room from eight to four on weekdays but are home all day at the weekend, that difference fits into a single programme. The timer is adjustable from 0 to 24 hours, so you can also decide how long the panel should run before it stops.

Comfort, ECO and anti-frost

There are three modes. In Comfort you give a target between 5 and 35 °C for everyday use. In ECO the panel works to a lower setting and uses less energy. In anti-frost it holds a fixed low temperature to keep the room from getting cold, which in a rarely used guest room or a holiday house is all that is needed.

Wi-Fi and the TUYA SMART app

With the built-in Wi-Fi function you can set the temperature, the mode, the timer and the weekly programme from the TUYA SMART app. That has two typical uses: switching the heater on from the train on the way home, or checking from the office that it really did switch off. The panel connects to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Open window detection

The panel watches for a sudden drop in temperature: if the room loses several degrees in a short time, it stops heating. When you air the room, this is the function that keeps you from heating the street, and it asks nothing of you in return.

On its feet or on the wall

The panel works standing on its feet as well as wall-mounted, so nothing has to be drilled on the first day. Wall mounting saves more space; leave at least 30 cm of clear space from the panel to the floor and to the walls, so it is worth measuring the spot out in advance. The 1.5 m cable also has a say in where it can finally go, so think about the socket while you plan.

Materials, safety and sustainability

The front is tempered glass and the inside is built to spread the heat evenly. The appliance is for indoor use, in well-insulated rooms or for occasional heating.

Anti-frost mode

A fixed low target temperature that you do not set yourself. It does not hold living-room comfort; it guards the room against cooling down while the panel works as little as possible.

Cleaning and storage

• Switch the panel off, unplug it and let it cool before cleaning.
• Wipe the glass front with a slightly damp soft cloth, then dry it.
• Keep the air outlets free of dust and never cover the panel.
• Store it in a dry place out of season, with the cable loosely coiled.
• Do not use the appliance with a damaged cable or cracked glass.
